DRBD is a block replication technology that became part of the Linux kernel with its 2.6.33 release. In the upcoming DRBD release (version 9), DRBD will support real-time mirroring (synchronous and asynchronous) to multiple nodes simultaneously.
We propose a cinder driver that uses DRBD to replicate local node storage, where the local node's storage is managed by LVM.
In particular we are looking for a discussion on
* Can this be achieved in a generic way, so that LVM is not set in stone
* Might this approach be generalized for remote replication (disaster recovery)
We will have a few slides about DRBD 9, drbdmanage and a short demo of the proof of concept code. (~15 Minutes)
